Family & Local History
Family History
Interested in tracing your family tree? Located in the Historical
Collection room at the rear of the library are books, CD-ROMS and microfiche
records containing useful information.
Included in the collection are Birth, Death and Marriage records for
Queensland and other states, Queensland Post Office Directories from 1868 to
1949 and a CD-ROM containing the 1881 British Census.
Central Highlands Family History Association
The Central Highlands Family History group meets regularly in the library
and members can assist with information on how to research family trees.
A collection of resources belonging to the association is held in the
Historical Collection room in the Emerald
Library and can be accessed by association members.

Local History
Also in the Historical Collection room is an extensive Local Studies
Collection, containing many publications relating to the local area as well
as the wider Queensland region.
Central Highlands Historical Association
The Central Highlands Historical Association can also help with information
of a historical nature. The group is committed to preserving the history of
the area and welcomes enquiries from interested parties.
