Emerald Town Centre Revitalisation

“The Town Centre Revitalisation project is to attract more people back to the Town. The attractive environment of the new Centre will attract them, as well as the vibrant mix of businesses, the expression of the culture and heritage and the provision of entertainment and community uses. The development will provide an enhanced pedestrian network with upgraded Town Centre intersections to improve safety, circulation, connections and create nodes for people to gather. Advanced tree planting and shelters along footpaths will provide shade from the sun during the hot summer months. Successful linkages are to be provided within the Town Centre, to successfully “stitch” the Centre to the remainder of the Town. This will include pedestrian, cycle and vehicular connections at the intersection of Egerton Street and Hospital Road. The historical elements of the town, in particular the train station, will be preserved and highlighted with direct links to civic spaces within the town centre. The Master Plan is to acknowledge and respect the significance of the existing memorials in the Town and create an improved setting for important events such as Anzac Day.”
